EMPTYING PURGATORY

It is estimated that - since the beginning of humanity - there have been approximately 30 billion people on Earth. That includes the over eight bilion alive right now. That means that - if these numbers are correct - there are 22 billion people who have lived on earth but already left this plane of existence.

Now, we know that some of those souls have gone to either Heaven or Hell. What we don't know is how many in either place. Given that we do not know, the theoretical maximum number of souls in Purgatory is 22 billion. We can be certain that the actual number os less but we cannot possibly know how many less.

We also know that St. Gertrude said that reciting her Prayer would result in 1,000 would being released from Purgatory. However, because some Church authorities are of the mindset that the Prayer will release a large number of souls but with no guarantee of any specific number.

Therefore, in setting our goals for emptying Purgatory, we're going to be very conservative.

Instead of a thousand souls, we're calculating a hundred souls for each recitation of the Prayer. If we can get just one hundred thousand Catholics to recite the Prayer just once a day - worthily - we could empty Purgatory in 2,200 days. That's just over six years.

Because all of us commit mortal sins at times - which separate us from the Almighty - we cannot presume that everyone will be reciting the Prayer worthily every day. Therefore, we are going to try to recruit a quarter of a million people and extend our target time by double. Just to be on the safe side.

We won't know whether Purgatory will be emptied in six years or ten or twenty. We also know that people leave the Earthly plane every day, close to 175 thousand on average. Some of those people will end up in Purgatory. Therefore, emptying Purgatory is not just a one time goal. It is something we will need to do continuously, in order to keep souls moving through Purgatory and into Heaven on a continuous basis.

What we are asking is simple and takes almost no time. Yet, it can have a TREMENDOUS impact on billions of souls in Purgatory:

1. We are asking that you join us as a Participant in Project Purgatory. Please go to our "Join Us" Page by clicking or tapping here.

2. We are asking that you go to Confession AT LEAST once a month, to make sure that you are "worthy" when saying the Prayer of St. Gertrude. Padre Pio urged all Catholics to got to Confession once a week.

3. We are asking Participants to recite St. Gertrude's Prayer for Holy Souls in Purgatory at least once a day.

4. While not strictly necessary for our goal and purpose, St. John Paul II made it clear that he deemed the Rosary as the most powerful of prayers. Accordingly, we are asking that all Participants - to the extent possible - recite a full Rosary (50 Decades) every day, for the Souls in Purgatory and for the Defense of the Holy Church.

This is a Holy Calling. The souls in Purgatory cannot pray for themselves. We are the ones who must pray for them. In turn, others will pray for us.

We hope you will join us in this Calling to help those suffering in the Cleansing Fire of Purgatory.
